Patagonia InMotion

The landscape changes when you move through it

Patagonia can be spectacular from a viewpoint. But something different happens when you begin to move through it.

Patagonia In Motion is six days of progressively entering the landscape around Bariloche, first from the shores of Nahuel Huapi, then from the water, through the forest on a mountain bike, along one of Patagonia’s legendary roads and finally on foot, climbing toward a mountain refuge beneath the granite spires of Cerro Catedral.

Each day changes the way we experience the territory. We ride, navigate, walk, climb and stop. There are moments of physical effort and moments when the only plan is to sit beside a lake after a long morning outside.

The objective is not to cover Patagonia. It is to feel what happens when you move through it.

Highlights of This Experience

Begin at the water’s edge. The first encounter is deliberately simple. Arrive, settle in and head toward Nahuel Huapi. Before the activities begin, there is time to understand the scale of the landscape and simply watch Patagonia unfold.

See Bariloche from above and then from the water. Circuito Chico and Cerro Campanario reveal the geography of lakes, peninsulas, forests and mountains from above. Later, we change perspective completely, navigating Nahuel Huapi toward Isla Victoria and walking among the extraordinary trees of the Arrayanes Forest.

Ride through the forest. Mountain bikes take us away from the classic sightseeing circuit and onto gravel roads and forest trails, with glimpses of Moreno and Nahuel Huapi appearing between the trees. The ride leads naturally toward Colonia Suiza, where effort gives way to regional food and a slower afternoon beside the lake.

Cross Patagonia by road. The Seven Lakes Road is more than a scenic drive. Lakes, forests, rivers and mountains constantly rearrange themselves as we travel toward San Martín de los Andes and Villa La Angostura, stopping wherever the landscape deserves more than a view through the window.

Earn the view. The journey builds toward its most demanding day: trekking from Cerro Catedral through native forest and mountain terrain toward Refugio Frey. Reaching the refuge and its lagoon beneath the granite walls changes the meaning of the landscape — because this time, we arrived there on our own feet.

Finish slowly. After days of movement, the final morning belongs to Bariloche itself: time to wander, discover local flavors, visit an artisan chocolatier and enjoy one last lunch together before leaving Patagonia.

Who This Journey Is For

For travelers who would rather participate than observe. Patagonia In Motion is designed for people who look at a mountain, lake or forest and instinctively want to enter it.

For those who enjoy a physical journey. This is an active experience. Mountain biking, walking and trekking are genuine parts of the trip, culminating in a substantial mountain day. You don’t need to be an extreme athlete, but you should enjoy using your body as part of the way you travel.

For travelers who like a sense of progression. The journey does not reveal everything on the first day. Each experience goes a little further, preparing us naturally for the mountains and the challenge of Frey.

For people who know that effort and comfort belong together. A demanding morning can end beside a lake. A long trek can be followed by a good dinner and a comfortable bed. Willimapu does not see adventure and comfort as competing ideas.

For travelers who want iconic Patagonia without experiencing it conventionally. Circuito Chico, Nahuel Huapi and the Seven Lakes are here. The difference is how we connect them: through movement, changing perspectives and enough time outside the vehicle to develop a real relationship with the landscape.

What Is Included

A comfortable base in Bariloche. Carefully selected accommodation provides a place to recover between active days while keeping us connected to the lakes and mountains surrounding the city.

The complete progression of experiences. Circuito Chico, Cerro Campanario, navigation on Nahuel Huapi, Isla Victoria, the Arrayanes Forest, mountain biking, Colonia Suiza, the Seven Lakes Road and the trekking experience toward Refugio Frey form the core of the journey.

Equipment and specialist support. The necessary equipment for included activities, technical briefing and appropriate local guides are incorporated according to the final program.

Private transportation and coordination. Transfers between activities and destinations, airport transfers and complete local coordination allow the group to concentrate on the experience rather than its logistics.

Food that follows the rhythm of the journey. Breakfast starts the day, lunches appear naturally along the route  sometimes after physical effort, sometimes in a mountain village  and dinners provide time to recover, talk and enjoy the evening.

Domestic and international flights to and from Bariloche are not included.

Optional Experiences

Take the riding further. For stronger cyclists, the mountain bike day can become longer and more technical, adding distance, elevation and trail sections according to the group’s experience.

Go higher into the mountains. Travelers looking for greater physical challenge can replace or complement the standard trekking experience with a longer mountain route, depending on conditions and season.

Experience the lakes differently. Kayaking or a more intimate private navigation can replace the larger-scale lake experience, putting travelers closer to the water and allowing access to quieter corners of the region.

Ride through Patagonia. A horseback experience can introduce another traditional way of moving through the landscape, combining mountain or forest trails with a completely different rhythm.

Add an open-fire Patagonian evening. After an active day, dinner can become an experience of its own: fire, regional ingredients, Argentine wine and a long evening designed around the table rather than a schedule.

Stay in the mountains. For those wanting to push the concept of In Motion further, the mountain experience can be expanded to include a night in a refuge, changing a day trek into a deeper encounter with the Patagonian backcountry.
